The basics
- No account is required. Your favorites stay on your Apple TV.
- Radio and artwork services receive the requests needed to play stations and show artwork.
- In version 2.0.0 and later, station-report sharing is optional and off until you turn it on.
What this covers
This policy covers Radiant Radio on Apple TV, made by Thumb Wizards Software, LLC in Michigan, United States.
We do not sell or rent personal information or use advertising trackers or session replay. Stations may include ads in their broadcasts.
What stays on your Apple TV
Favorites, your last played station, preferences, and caches stay on your device. Other people using the same installation can see your favorites and last station. We do not upload your favorites list.
Radio & artwork connections
The app connects to outside services to find stations, play audio, and load images:
- Radio Browser receives station searches and station identifiers.
- Station and streaming hosts receive requests to check and play selected streams.
- MusicBrainz receives artist and song titles to find artwork. Cover Art Archive and station image hosts receive image requests.
These services receive your IP address and request information, may process it outside your country, and control their own logs. Some stations use unencrypted HTTP. See Radio Browser, MusicBrainz privacy, and Internet Archive privacy for Cover Art Archive.
Optional station diagnostics
In Radiant Radio 2.0.0 and later, Share Station Diagnostics is off by default. A one-time first-launch prompt offers Share Diagnostics or Not Now. The app remembers either choice and uploads no reports unless you choose to share. You can change your choice in About → Share Station Diagnostics.
If you opt in, only future playback success and failure reports are sent to our Supabase backend to help fix streams. Turning sharing on does not upload earlier playback observations. Earlier versions without this control may send station reports automatically.
Reports contain station details, outcome, time, a report identifier, app version and build, and technical evidence such as stream addresses and HTTP errors. Uploaded addresses exclude credentials, fragments, and sensitive or temporary URL parameters. Approved permanent parameters needed to route to a station may remain in station details and the address that played. Attempted-address and redirect evidence omit all URL query parameters.
Reports have no name, email, advertising identifier, or persistent listener/device identifier. Supabase receives connection information, including your IP address. It processes reports on our behalf under its data protection terms.
Local playback health information and downloads of shared station-health and repair information continue when report sharing is off. These downloads and the radio and artwork connections described above still make network requests.
We require providers processing personal information for us to give it the same or equivalent protection as this policy. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect people, our services, or legal rights.
Apple & support messages
Apple’s privacy policy covers App Store downloads and analytics shared through Apple’s settings. If you email us, we and our email provider use your address, message, and attachments to answer you. We keep correspondence as needed for support and legal obligations.
Retention, deletion & your choices
- Local data: remove favorites in the app. Deleting the app removes local data. tvOS may clear caches.
- Station reports: unsent reports expire from the local queue after 90 days. Reports already sent have no automatic expiry and stay available for station maintenance until removed.
- Report sharing: in version 2.0.0 and later, turn off About → Share Station Diagnostics to stop uploads and delete unsent reports. Reports already sent are not erased by turning sharing off or deleting the app. Earlier versions without the switch may send reports automatically; stop playback and stop using those versions to stop new reports.
- Other connections: turning report sharing off does not stop station searches, radio playback, artwork requests, or shared station-health and repair downloads. Stop using the app to stop these connections.
- Requests: email contact@thumbwizards.com for access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent where applicable. Include the station and approximate time to help locate reports.
Without a listener identifier, we may be unable to identify your reports. We will explain any limits on a request. Outside services control their own records.
We use reasonable security safeguards. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; contact us if you believe this has happened.
